Update of the Guidelines
The Australian Guidelines for the Prevention and Control of Infection in Healthcare are produced by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), in collaboration with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare.
The draft Guidelines have been updated to reflect the latest national and international evidence on infection prevention and control. This update has been led by the Infection Control Guidelines Advisory Committee, whose membership details can be found in Appendix 3 of the draft Guidelines. The evidence reviews commissioned by NHMRC for the update are publicly available for background information. These reports are not subject to consultation.

Accessing the Guidelines
For this update, NHMRC is piloting an interactive ‘living guidelines’ model. Two IT platforms are available for accessing the draft Guidelines:
MAGICapp – an online interactive platform for developing and publishing guidelines (third party website)
